Online dictation: write with your voice, right in the browser

Speaking is a natural way to get a first draft down, and it spares your wrists. Voqia's Live mode turns what you say into text while you speak, in a browser tab, with nothing to install. You then tidy it up with AI, translate it if needed, and copy it or export it to Word. Made in France and hosted in the EU, it works in English as well as in French and several other European languages.

10 free minutes, no credit card required.

Built-in dictation or a dedicated tool?

Windows, macOS, Google Docs and most phones already have a dictation button. It works well for a sentence or two. It becomes harder to use for longer texts: the text lands wherever the cursor is, there is no history, and turning spoken sentences into clean written prose is up to you.

Voqia is designed for longer dictation sessions: you can talk for several minutes, pause, carry on, keep the whole session in one place, then ask the AI to rewrite it into clear paragraphs, summarize it or translate it.

Dictate a text in 4 steps

  1. Sign in to voqia.fr with your Google account. Your first 10 minutes are free, no credit card required.
  2. Open Live mode and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
  3. Speak naturally. The text appears on screen as you go; pauses do not end the session.
  4. Stop the recording, then copy the text or download it as a Word document (.docx).

From spoken words to clean text

Dictated text reads like speech: hesitations, repetitions, long sentences. While you dictate, you can turn on one AI transformation:

Improve

Rewrites what you say into clearer, more fluent text. Useful to get a presentable paragraph straight from an idea spoken out loud.

Translate

Dictate in one language and get the text in another: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Arabic. Handy if you work across borders, for example writing to a French or German client.

AI summary

At the end of the session, get a short summary with the key points: ideal when you dictate notes after a meeting or a site visit.

Which languages can you dictate in?

Voqia transcribes English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian and Turkish, and detects the spoken language automatically.

If you mainly speak Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or Finnish, these languages are not in the list above: test them with your free minutes before buying, or dictate in English and use the transformations from there.

What people use it for

  • Writing emails, reports and letters faster than at the keyboard.
  • Drafting an article, an essay or a thesis chapter, then editing it.
  • Recording notes out loud after a meeting, a client visit or an interview.
  • Writing despite wrist pain, RSI or any situation where typing is tiring.
  • Preparing a text in another language with the Translate transformation.

Tips for accurate dictation

  • Use a headset or earphones with a microphone: your voice is closer and background noise lower.
  • Speak at a steady pace; there is no need to slow down unnaturally.
  • Avoid echoey rooms and switch off noise sources (fan, music, notifications).
  • Always reread the result: names, acronyms and numbers are the most common corrections.

Dictation or file transcription?

Dictation is live: you speak and the text is written. If you already have a recording (a voice memo, a recorded meeting, a lecture), upload it in File mode instead: it accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, WebM, MP4 and MOV files up to 500 MB and can separate the speakers.
