Podcast transcript to show notes: what AI can and cannot do
AI can turn an episode transcript into a good first draft of show notes: the topics, the key points and quotes to pick from. It does not know your links, sponsors or chapter times, and it can get names wrong, so you still edit and check before publishing. Voqia gives you the timestamped transcript and an AI summary to start from.
Show notes are the few lines that make someone press play, plus the links and details listeners come back for. Writing them from memory after an edit is tedious; writing them from a transcript is faster and more accurate. Here is a realistic split between what AI does well and what stays your job.

What show notes are for
Apple describes an episode description as one or more sentences describing your episode to potential listeners. Around it, most shows add the guest's name, the topics, links to what was mentioned and, often, chapter times.
Apple Podcasts now generates transcripts automatically after an episode is published, and labels them as automatically generated. Your own transcript is still useful before publication: it is the raw material for the description, a blog post, newsletter quotes and social clips.
Podcasts are a mainstream habit in the markets many English-language shows target: Edison Research measured 55% of Americans aged 12 and over and 52% of Australians aged 10 and over consuming podcasts monthly in 2025, and 55% of New Zealanders aged 16 and over. Clear show notes help each of those listeners decide in a few seconds.

What AI can do, and what it cannot
| Part of the show notes | What the AI summary gives you | What you still do |
|---|---|---|
| Topics of the episode | A good draft, in the order they came up | Pick the angle that will make people listen |
| Key points | A list of the main points | Cut, reorder and write them for listeners |
| Quotes | The exact words are in the transcript | Choose them and replay them before publishing |
| Guest name and titles | What was said, sometimes misspelled | Check the spelling and the job title |
| Links to books, tools and articles | Only the words, never the URLs | Add every link yourself |
| Chapter times | Timestamps in the transcript, but no chapters | Write the chapter list from the timestamps |
| Sponsor reads and calls to action | Nothing reliable | Write them from your own brief |
From episode to show notes in 5 steps
- Sign in to voqia.fr with Google (10 free minutes, no credit card) and open File mode.
- Upload the final mix of the episode (MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC or WebM audio, or MP4 or MOV video, up to 500 MB) with Speaker detection on.
- Rename the speakers (Options, then Rename speakers) with the host's and guests' names.
- Ask for the AI summary: it gives a title, the context, the key points and the action items. Copy it as your draft.
- Edit it into your format: a one-line hook, three to five bullet points, the guest, the links and the chapters. Before publishing, tap the sentences you quote to replay them, and check every name.
A simple show notes template
- Hook: one sentence on why this episode is worth an hour of someone's time.
- Guest: name and what they do, spelled as they spell it.
- In this episode: three to five points, each in one line.
- Chapters: start time and title for each part, taken from the transcript timestamps.
- Mentioned: links to every book, tool or article named in the episode.
- Credits and ways to follow the show.
What Voqia does not do
- It does not import an episode from a link, a podcast app or an RSS feed: you upload the audio file.
- It does not publish to your podcast host or write directly into your episode description.
- It does not create chapters or subtitle files (SRT or VTT); the transcript has timestamps you can use.
- The AI summary has a fixed shape (context, key points, actions) and is written in the language of the interface; you adapt it to your show's voice.
How many minutes does an episode use?
Transcription is counted on the length of the audio: a 45-minute episode uses about 45 minutes. One-time packs: €4.99 for 1 hour, €9.99 for 3 hours or €24.99 for 10 hours, enough for a season of ten one-hour episodes. Minutes never expire and there is no subscription. Prices are in euros; if your card uses another currency, the payment page may show the amount in your currency, otherwise your bank converts it automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI write my podcast show notes?
It can write a solid first draft from the transcript: topics, key points and quotes to choose from. You still add the links, chapters and sponsor details, and check names before publishing.
Apple Podcasts already makes transcripts. Why make my own?
Apple generates its transcripts after the episode is published. Your own transcript is available before publication, so you can write the description, a blog post and social posts from it, and keep a copy you can edit.
Can Voqia create chapters?
Not automatically. The transcript is timestamped, so you can read where each topic starts and write the chapter list yourself.
Can the AI summary get things wrong?
Yes. It can misspell names, attribute a point to the wrong speaker or give too much weight to a side topic. Treat it as a draft and check it against the transcript and the audio.
Is it free?
The first 10 minutes are free, without a credit card, enough to test a segment of your episode. Then one-time packs start at €4.99 for 1 hour.
